Nick Carter was forced to drop out of Florida's Marathon Offshore Grand Prix this weekend when his speedboat broke down.

The singer and his Super Vee crew were forced to admit defeat on Sunday when the drive shaft broke on one of the boat's two engines during the 14-lap race. Carter says, "I was very disappointed. Things like this do happen. That's racing."

Carter, 22, has become a keen racer since signing up for the 2002 American Power Boat Association racing season earlier this year.
