Actress Selma Blair is excited to have landed a role opposite Christian Slater in upcoming movie The Deal - because she had a crush on him as a child.

The Wall Street thriller, which involves government secrecy, illegal oil trading and the Russian Mafia, begins filming next month.

Smitten Blair says, "We're a couple of lawyers. I'm kind of gothic and I'm kind of a geek and environmental and I don't want to go corporate, but I do.

"And we're both kind of fighting the forces of evil. It's a bit comic-booky. It's a low-budget independent.

"It might never see the light of day, or it could be great."
