Celebrity Marriages That Never Existed
Jan 6, 2004 - By The Associated Press
Britney Spears is far from the first celebrity to obtain a get-out-of-marriage-free card. Some other high-profile annulments:
DARVA CONGER AND RICK ROCKWELL: Back in March 2000, the dawning of TV's Reality Age, Conger outfoxed 49 other contestants to win a ring from Rockwell on "Who Wants to Marry a Multimillionaire." Then it was disclosed that Rockwell's former fiancee had obtained a restraining order against him, saying he hit her. "He was not honest," Conger told the judge. Or maybe she just didn't like him.
LASTED: Six weeks.
---
R. KELLY AND AALIYAH: Years before his alleged underage sex tape, Kelly produced a 15-year-old Aaliyah's smash debut album, "Age Ain't Nothing but a Number." Keeping it real, Aaliyah then lied about her age to obtain a marriage license in Kelly's home state of Illinois. Her outraged parents quickly terminated the 1994 union.
LASTED: About as long as it took for Aaliyah's mom to find out.
---
RUDOLPH GIULIANI AND REGINA PERUGGI: The former New York mayor's first marriage was to his second cousin - a no-no for Catholics without special church dispensation. So when the couple fell out of love, the Catholic Church (which doesn't sanction divorce) granted an annulment.
