After trying his hand at more serious drama in The Majestic, Jim Carrey is back to doing what audiences are comfortable with; Jim as a put-upon, average guy thrust into extraordinary circumstances. As a t.v. reporter forced to cover "fluff" stories, in Bruce Almighty, Carrey has a day from Hell, curses God for his misfortune and the Almighty (played wonderfully by Morgan Freeman) gives him the chance to rule the world (or at least a section of Buffalo, New York) and part the Red Sea (or at least a bowl of tomato soup). Of course lessons are learned, lovelife is tested, etc.

When we spoke with Carrey recently, he entered the hotel conference room and immediately tripped over a wire, disconnecting several cameras and recording devices. He apologized, quickly re-connected everything and sat down, blushing. The actor looks more boyish these days in longer fluffy hair and a blue Levis shirt and black, zip jacket. We found him to be extremely open about everything from his feelings about leading lady Jennifer Aniston to his belief in a divine being to which movie moment he would like to recreate in his life.
