British heartthrob Robert Pattinson is planning to return to London as soon as the Twilight promotion circuit is over - so he can "hide" from his crazed fans.

The 22-year-old actor has become a huge hit with female film fans since taking on the role of handsome vampire Edward Cullen in the movie adaptation of the cult book series.

And Pattinson admits he has been overwhelmed by fans' reaction to him - because he doesn't understand his new pin-up status.

In an interview with U.S. chat show host Ellen DeGeneres, he explains, "People like screaming at me. Actually, they like screaming at me in relationships as well. No one wants to commit."

And the Brit hunk is ready to take time out of from his crazy new Hollywood existence by escaping back to his normal life in England.

He tells Usweekly.com, "I think I'll go back to London for a bit, and hide out."

And the star tells U.S. TV's The Today Show how his hordes of fans have actually made his job as an actor easier - because he doesn't have to impress them with his acting ability.

He says, "It's just amusing now. People just project their idea of the character onto me, and assume I'm the same, when I'm just really not. It makes my life very easy."
