Anne Hathaway loaned ex-boyfriend Raffaello Follieri hundreds of thousands of dollars over the course of their relationship, according to new reports.

The Get Smart star split from the Italian businessman in June, shortly before he was arrested on suspicion of unscrupulous business dealings.

According to U.S. magazine Vanity Fair, Hathaway paid Follieri's $37,000-a-month rent at his New York apartment until his lease ran out in June.

A source tells the magazine the actress was enamoured by her new beau: "It was totally love at first sight... He is sooo good-looking... He looks like a god."

And it was the 25-year-old actress' father who first grew concerned about his daughter's dealings with Follieri. According to reports, Hathaway's dad, Jerry, had the Italian businessman followed by a private investigator in 2005.

But the actress is said to have grown wiser to her lover's dealings by the end of their four-year affair.

Reportedly calling it quits over the phone, she told Follieri: "You were the love of my life. I'll always love you. You know that, baby."

The 29-year-old businessman was allegedly busted by federal investigators just six hours after the call.
