Celebs Support "Do Something" at Teen Choice
Aug 4, 2008 - Lynn Barker
The cast of "Secret Life of the American Teenager" (see our recent interview with lead actress Shailene Woodley) won the award for "Choice Summer TV Show" and the young actors had a few comments.
Advice for teens? "Be good, be strong and don't get pregnant".
The cast feels that education is very important and are glad that their ideas for storylines are very well accepted by the writers on the show. The cast has received tons of e-mails from fans thanking them for the show, saying it made them think twice about having sex at a young age and several viewers are in their 20's now but write that they "got in trouble" when they were 15 and the show really hits home and inspires them.
Scarlett Johansson, currently starring in the Woody Allen film Vicky Christina Barcelona introduced the winner of the Teen Choice "Do Something" award, a teen name Chad Bullock, an anti-smoking activist who convinced the entire Durham Bulls team to ban smoking in their stadium so kids wouldn't have to breathe all the second hand smoke.
We got to sit down with Scarett this morning to talk about her role in "Vicky Christina" and she had a few words to say about the "Do Something" awards.
Scarlett: You know, those kids were amazing! I met all of them before and talked to them. Each one of them individually, had such drive. I came home and couldn't stop talking about these kids. Some of the things they were doing were incredible. The winner was an African-American kid in North Carolina fighting a tobacco company! It was a very cool category. It was great!
