If you missed this charming and fun romance/comedy/fantasy in theaters, you'll enjoy it on DVD! Ever felt ugly or shunned by your peers or rejected by a crush? Ever want to go out and conquer the world and accept your own flaws? Then you'll identify with Penelope!
In a strange yet modern land far, far away, the rich Wilhern family has suffered a witch's curse for years. They want to break the spell that put a pig nose (hey, it's cute) and ears on their otherwise really pretty 20-something daughter Penelope (Christina Ricci). Mom (Catherine O'Hara) and dad (Richard E. Grant) try constantly to lure wealthy and titled young suitors to fall for their reclusive daughter and marry her in order to, as far as they know, break the curse. So far, Penelope's looks first attract then, on the awful reveal, send all the young men running in revulsion.
Enter rough-around-the-edges heir Max (hot James McAvoy) who is secretly hired by tabloid journalist Lemon (Peter Dinklage) to meet the "pig-girl" and get photos. Max and Penelope really hit if off however and looks like true love will triumph but Max has his own secret and breaks her heart. Pig-Girl decides to escape her parents' clutches and hit the real world where she pals around with a tough biker chick (Reese Witherspoon), becomes a celebrity and finally learns that she can break her own curse... and just maybe...still get the guy.
