Hollywood star Matthew McConaughey and his girlfriend are thrilled at the birth of their first child, a baby boy.

Brazilian model Camila Alves gave birth to a seven pound, four ounce son at 6:22 pm in Los Angeles on Monday night, the actor's representative Alan Nierob confirms to People.com.

In a statement to Ok! magazine, McConaughey says, "Camila and I were side by side the entire time."

"We are both tired and elated, and are so happy to have created the greatest miracle in the world - having a child and making a family. Now comes the greatest adventure - raising one, together."

The Wedding Planner star announced the news that he and Alves were expecting a child on his official website in January.
