Actor Shia Labeouf was ridiculed by his close pals after he was alleged to be romantically linked to R+b star Rihanna.

The Transformers star, 21, was reported to be dating the Bajan beauty last summer after they were spotted having an intimate dinner together in Beverly Hills.

But LaBeouf instantly denied the rumoured relationship, insisting he hardly knew the singer.

And he admits his pals would constantly tease him about the alleged romance by singing her hit song Umbrella, even after he dismissed the rumours.

He tells the June edition of GQ magazine, "My friends were like, 'Are you serious, bro? Why didn't you tell me about that?' I was like, 'I really don't know her like that.'

"For weeks they were singing that Umbrella song everywhere I walked. And those are my people!"
