Mr. Bean (Rowan Atkinson) wins a church raffle grand prize, a vacation on the French Riviera and a digital camcorder. Off goes wacky Mr. Bean with his camcorder to get lost in Paris and suffer several misadventures trying to get to Cannes. He ends up in charge of Stepan, the young son of a Russian filmmaker bound for the Cannes Film Festival who thinks that Bean has kidnapped the boy. Once in Cannes, Bean's shaky vacation footage ends up getting mixed up with pretentious filmmaker Carson Clay's (Spider-Man's Willem Dafoe) film entry and of course, the crowd goes wild and loves the bizarre combo film. Bean finally gets to the beach.
Video/Audio: This widescreen transfer is pretty good. Just a little grain in evening scenes. The area around Cannes looks just beautiful. Makes you wanna hit the French Riviera. Fine job. Dolby Digital audio is well-balanced and dialogue, music and other sounds come through very clearly.
Special Features: "French Beans" is a making-of featurette with Atkinson and crew being silly while making the movie in the French countryside and Cannes during the film festival. Kinda cute. "Bean in Cannes" is more of the same with info from festival organizers and shooting during the actual festival and on the beaches. Interesting. "The Human Bean" is where you find interviews with cast and crew as they talk about the shoot and working with wacky Atkinson as Bean etc. Usual stuff but okay. "Deleted Scenes" is several short scenes that are kinda funny. Worth watching.
