It's the late '70's and cute Gregory Smith from the popular TV series "Everwood" stars as high schooler Henry Nearing whose mom has just died spinning him, his dad and bro off on a list of serial bad choices. The hottest babe in school is Grace ("Fast and Furious's Jordana Brewster) who isn't the best choice for Henry but he falls for her anyway. He really belongs with the girl next door (Ashley Johnson) but he has to deal with his freaked out dad and wasted brother all while trying to keep his sanity and discover who he really is.
Video/Audio: This widescreen transfer of the film is clean. The colors don't really pop but they are fine. The Dolby 5.1 soundtrack is very balanced and the cool '70's songs come through as well as the dialogue. No problems.
Special Features: A few: You get Director Rick Rosenthal and Jordana Brewster on a commentary track that gives you some info about shooting the film but doesn't really sparkle. You don't get the idea that these two were a barrel of laughs on set. The "behind the scenes" featurettes are shortish with a little onset footage with no sound and some guitar music. Okay but not a great extra.
Wrapping Up: This is a more intelligent teen angst film that won't insult you. Performances are very good, especially Greg Smith's and you can probably identify with at least one of the characters. Extras aren't that great but just for the film, the DVD is very worth a rental at least.
