Rapper Common has voiced his support for his American Gangster co-star T.i. after he was taken into custody over weapons charges.

Common, real name Lonnie Rashid Lynn Jr, who plays T.i's dad in the film, urged the rapper-actor to pray for his future.

He says, "Know that God is with (you). Know that He knows what the truth is and the truth is going to allow (you) to get out and be alright."

Twenty-seven-year-old T.i., real name Clifford Harris Jr. - remains in custody after allegedly sending his bodyguard to buy three machine guns and two silencers from an undercover police officer who was posing as an arms dealer.

His lawyers asked U.s. Magistrate Judge Alan Baverman to release the rapper on a $2.2 million bond with monitored home confinement while he awaits trial.

But the judge said he will reserve his ruling until October 26th when his lawyers are expected to present an approved home monitor.
