Whether they are a "couple" or not, Jake Gyllenhaal and Reese Witherspoon are actors we love to watch. In the political thriller Rendition, Jake plays a conflicted CIA analyst thrust into the field and Reese is the pregnant wife of a Egyptian American who is grabbed unjustly by the U.S. government and shipped off to a foreign land to be tortured for possible terrorist information. Let's get the facts straight. Reese and Jake did not meet while making this film. Their storylines didn't even cross; no scenes together at all. According to Reese "I've known Jake for years".
According to her director Gavin Hood, when Reese shot a street scene in Pasadena, paparazzi with long lenses were everywhere but she just told the director to ignore them, stayed professional and kept shooting the film. It's all about focusing on the story and characters for these two young actors. We met with them briefly in Beverly Hills recently to chat about the movie and their feelings about the serious subject matter. Check it out.
TeenHollywood: Jake, your character ultimately makes a very moral decision. Your brother-in-law Peter [Sarsgaard]'s character puts his career first. Would you have enjoyed playing his character more?
