Rapper Lil' Wayne missed a court date because the summons was sent to an old address, his lawyer claims.

The star was arrested in Boise, Idaho last week after failing to show up in court for a hearing relating to drug possession charges, following his arrest in Atlanta, Georgia in 2006.

Lawyer William Head claims the 25-year-old - real name Dwayne Michael Carter Jr - was informed the case had been dismissed, when it hadn't. He then claims the summons was sent to an address in New Orleans, Louisiana that was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

Head says, "All they did was take his address off his driver's license. So he never got it."

Carter was released and is now expected to appear again in court on October 31st.
