Rapper Lil' Wayne faces a $1 million lawsuit after being accused of injuring a fan with a wad of money at a gig.

The hip-hop star - real name Dwayne Michael Carter Jr. - threw money into crowd during his performance at Morgan State University, Maryland last year.

Fan Tyrique Layne filed a lawsuit on Tuesday against Carter and his record label claiming she and two other women were hurt during the October concert.

Police considered charging Carter over the incident after it sparked a mini riot, however officials at Morgan State University opted to ban the star from the college campus permanently instead.

According to the suit, Layne has suffered headaches, memory, loss, fatigue and neck and back pain since the incident.
