Actor Johnny Depp delayed filming the final scene of Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World's End because he was reluctant to say farewell to his swashbuckling character Captain Jack Sparrow.

The star - who plays the pirate in all three of the movies - insisted on re-shooting his last take because he had grown so attached to the role.

He says, "It was one of those moments where you are just doing anything you can to postpone it. Gore (Verbinski, the film's director) said, 'I think we've got everything, but do you want another take?'"

"And I said, 'Yes, let's do another take. Let me try something else.' But it was only because I didn't want to face the inevitable. I'd been that person for umpteen months. I didn't want to say goodbye."
