Liv Tyler was left amazed when working with Adam Sandler, because the comedian's acting touched her so much she burst into tears.

The pair star in new film Reign Over Me, the story of a man who loses his family in 2001's World Trade Center terrorist attack, and Tyler was so immersed in Sandler's emotional performance she began crying.

The 29-year-old says, "I was so impressed by what a truly amazing actor Adam is. There is a scene in the film where he tells his best friend what happened on the day he lost his family.

"I was so touched by what he was saying, I started to cry and couldn't stop. Tears were streaming down my face. But because I was off-camera, I had to be quiet; I couldn't even sniffle.

"I have never, ever had that happen to me working with any other actor."
