Teen star JoJo is using her new album to hit back at school bullies who told her she would never make it in the music industry.

The 16-year-old refused to dampen her ambitions, and titled the LP "High Road" as a reminder of what she was able to overcome.

She says, "A lot of my peers told me I couldn't fulfil my dreams and I guess they were jealous because I had goals. It was very hurtful, so to me taking the high road is about trying to be your own person.

"You think, 'ok, I'm going to show you what I'm about.'"
