R+b singer Ashanti is embracing her new role as an inspiration for abused women.

The Foolish hitmaker - full name Ashanti Douglas - admits her candid songs about troubled relationships have made her a mascot for downtrodden girls.

She says, "I got letters from fans and women saying you saved me, I was able to walk away from this relationship because I saw your video."
