He's a phenomenon! Without Johnny Depp's inspired development of the Captain Jack Sparrow character, the "Pirates of the Caribbean" film franchise might have gone aground with "Curse of the Black Pearl". Writers admit that, on the page, Sparrow wasn't that extraordinary. It was chameleon Johnny who won our hearts with his stumbling, mumbling and charismatic creation.

At a hotel in Beverly Hills, the Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest press day was busy, to say the least. We got up for a bathroom break, turned around in the hallway and.. came within inches of running into Captain Jack himself! Johnny has quite a few more days to shoot for "Pirates 3" and, except for the gray fedora hat, modern white t-shirt and ripped jeans, we would swear he was still in costume....well, he wasn't wearing his "Jack" dreadlocks but is still very tan, has "Jack's" gold teeth, lots of wild pirate charms around his neck, tons of skull-inspired rings and a funky watch chain connected to the belt loops of his jeans that is loaded with more "Jack-inspired" funky charms and fetishes. Only Johnny Depp could wear this get-up and look exceedingly cool!
