One guy stretches, a girl disappears, another dude is on fire and yet another is just..huge and ugly. Sound like your roommates or gang of pals this summer? See some ordinary scientists, a slacker and a bodyguard turn into the Fantastic Four.

Brainy scientist Dr. Reed Richards (Ioan Gruffudd) loses a NASA grant to study a radiation cloud that will be passing close to earth. Reed and pal Ben Grimm (Michael Chiklis) go to Reed's old classmate/industrialist Victor Von Doom (Julian McMahon) for financial aid, use of a lab and maybe a ride to his space station. Von Doom, a control freak, agrees and enlists the help of scientist Sue Storm (Jessica Alba, whom Von Doom has the hots for) and her slacker bro Johnny (Chris Evans). The gang arrives at the space station and, whoops!, the cosmic radiation cloud hauls butt and gets there way too soon, zapping our heroes... and Von Doom, with serious, DNA-altering radiation.

Back on earth later, the failure of the mission sets Von Doom's company into a tailspin and his board of directors want him out! Each of the cosmic cloud victims starts to display some weird new abilities. Reed Richards can suddenly stretch really far. Sue Storm can turn invisible. Johnny can burst into flame and Ben Grimm is transformed into an super-sized rock guy, everyone calls "Thing". Von Doom starts turning into stronger-than-Titanium metal and can bring down some serious lightning. Poor Ben's fiancée can't handle his new mondo-huge, rockboy appearance and runs away screaming.
