Shrek: The Whole Story- All 4 Films on Blu-Ray!
We are lounging by a gorgeous fountain at the DreamWorks Animation Studios in Burbank, California on a break from our studio tour and introduction by animators and officials, to all four of the new remastered, Blu-Ray converted Shrek films out in a cool box set on December 7th.
Donkey is telling us that this awesome set includes his all new, really cute holiday special “Donkey’s Christmas Shrektacular” as well!
Studio head Jeffrey Katzenberg is revealing that the original Shrek built the DreamWorks Animation Studio almost a decade ago and that “The Green Ogre became our North Star” and has been the most successful animated movie franchise ever.
We are in the Digital Dailies Room where the animators and crew review each day’s work and judge it. They are now busy on the Puss in Boots spin off film featuring the voice of Antonio Banderas. We see the big difference between the original Shrek films and the new, sharp, crisp and colorful Blu-Ray versions. An Oscar-winning sound wizard tells us how he improved the sound and music balance as well. We can really hear the difference!
It takes two to five years to make an animated movie so the folks at DreamWorks are very serious about their work. Hard work, hard play! The campus-like studio is equipped with a state of the art game room, gym and is surrounded by lush nature trails, fountains and features a giant pool of coy fish. If this is a campus, we wanna go to school here!
Everyone working at the studio can get a chance to record their voices and maybe be chosen for a voice role! Voice actors are also recruited from the general public (that could be you!). Check your DreamWorks DVD/Blu-Ray box inserts and Facebook for contests that might fly you to the studio to record your voice!
This reporter got to play the voice of Fiona in a cool scene! We were with the guys who directed Cameron Diaz and Mike Meyers as we read lines into a fancy microphone set-up while watching a scene from Shrek Forever After and trying to synch our voices up with the picture. That part is hard! When the original actors recorded, the animation came after! No synching up for them. I’m with a fellow reporter playing Shrek! Hey, we don’t sound bad at all!
We get a cool preview of the upcoming 3-D conversion of the films which will be part of the debut of new 3-D televisions from Samsung. Wow! We put on the comfortable 3-D glasses that come with the new TVs and have to say that the 3-D picture looks just as good as it did in theaters. Finally, 3-D movies in your own home will look amazing without those stupid blue and red lens paper glasses!
Wrapping Up: Right now, and for the holidays, think about gifting and collecting “Shrek: The Whole Story” Blu-Ray set. You won’t be sorry.
