Brad Pitt fed up with fame
New York (dpa) - When Hollywood superstar Brad Pitt, 45, started his career, he wanted to be famous - but that famous?
"This publicity machine is out of control. It's everything we didn't sign up for. There's this whole other entity that you get sucked into. You have to go and sell your wares," the actor said in a panel discussion released by US magazine Newsweek.
Despite him and his partner Angelina Jolie, 33, selling photos of their newborn twins to W magazine, he has not made peace with the whole fuss about his person.
"Somehow you're not supporting your film if you don't get on a show and talk about your personal life. It has nothing to do with why I do this," Pitt said.
There was no need to prove himself any further, said Pitt, who was nominated for an Oscar for his lead role in the Curious Case of Benjamin Button, based on a novel by F Scott Fitzgerald.
But he felt sorry for newcomers to Hollywood, Pitt said. "I feel for the people who are just getting into the business. It sets the wrong focus."
