The Jonas Bros are Everywhere!

Joe, Kevin and Nick were basically unknown back in 2006 when Disney picked them to record a theme song for an animated show and you know the rest; music video, TV movie, reality series, "Camp Rock" and mega-stardom with a 3D Concert movie coming out, Grammy nominations and appearances at the upcoming Presidential inauguration events! We wanted to know about all of it.

We actually cornered the guys at Universal City in California to get the latest including a chat about their new comedy TV series on the Disney Channel called....."Jonas". In the show, the guys play a mega-popular fictional band who live at home in a cool converted firehouse with their parents and little bro (the guys' real life little bro Frankie). The trio struggles to have a normal life while going to high school. Of course this set-up makes for comedy and you can also count on a lot of their music. The band is aided by their childhood pal and now stylist Stella Malone (played by Chelsea Staub of Bratz: The Movie) and their number one fan Macy Misa (Nicole Anderson) who, well...gushes a lot.

Lets get to the guys!! Picture Kevin looking preppie in blue, v-neck sweater over white shirt, grey slacks and beige boots; Joe in brown shirt with black tie, pants and dress shoes and Nick in plaid shirt, brown suit jacket, dark jeans and brown boots....

TeenHollywood: Can you talk about performing at the inauguration celebrations Monday night? Pretty cool!

Nick: It's absolutely an honor to be able to perform. For me, I've always talked about a future in the White House one day, (the bros laugh). But, it really is an honor. And what we're doing is all for the children, the families of the military. And I mean, we couldn't have been more thrilled than to have been asked to do that event specifically.

TeenHollywood: Sasha and Malia Obama are two of your biggest fans. Have you met them and are you looking forward to playing at the White House?

Kevin: We are.

Nick: We have met them. We actually met then while we were on "Ellen." And we walked into a room, and they were sitting there playing ping-pong, and they didn't know. And there's actually this YouTube video of President-elect Obama talking about us, the Jonas Brothers. And he talks about when they're going to meet us. And they met us. They didn't know we were there. We walked in. They were very excited. It was really cool to meet them after hearing that they had been fans. And we played ping-pong, and they beat me (making finger quotes in the air.)

Kevin: He wants a rematch. (laughs)

Joe: It's a little pressure with, like, the 25 secret service guys there.

TeenHollywood: What will you be singing at the inauguration celebration, and why did you choose those?

Nick: We know that Sasha and Malia are fans of "Burnin Up," which is probably one that we'll be playing, and just some of our songs that we've released over time, "Lovebug," "Year 3000." Things like that.

TeenHollywood: Would you play at the White House?

Kevin: I know there's a bowling alley, and if I ever got the honor to bowl --

Nick: Oh, I thought you were talking about a show. Kevin's talking about bowling and ping-pong at the White House. It's crazy.

Kevin: I just want to hang out at the White House. (laughter).

TeenHollywood: You were on tour last summer so did you find it hard to adjust to the tight schedule of making a TV comedy series?

Joe: It definitely was weird for us to switch our brains because we're so used to staying up late when we're on stage, and this is kind of like waking up early. But it was fun. It's been really cool, and it definitely is a big change for us.

TeenHollywood: Are you really as stressed trying to lead a normal life as you are in the new series?

Kevin: No. We have an amazing team around us, amazing friends. Our cast is incredible. We're just like normal guys. We like to hang out. We go shopping. We hang out with friends. We go see movies. But we just work a lot at the same time, but we love it.

TeenHollywood: With all the singing success you've had, there was a glitch with being picked up by Columbia Records then dropped. Are they just idiots? Why didn't it work there and why is Hollywood Records and Disney a good match?

Nick: I think it's just about working with the right people. And I think we found a real home with Hollywood Records and our partnership with Disney. It just feels right. And I think we can all agree that ever since we moved over to Hollywood and started working with Disney, that things have just been a really amazing experience, and we've had a great time in everything that we've done. But, yeah, we got dropped.

Joe: And we were sitting there, kind of wondering if things would ever take off, and our management and our dad stuck by us and threw us, you know, an abandoned trailer. And so there were tough times, but we tell people to live to those dreams because if you stick to it and you really work hard, eventually there will be a great payoff.

TeenHollywood: So many kids today say they want to be famous. That's kind of their career goal. What are they not getting?

Nick: I think a lot of people, a lot of our fans come up to me and say, "I'm a songwriter. I want to be a musician one day." And that's what I love to hear, when somebody says, "I want to be a musician," "I want to be an artist," "I want to be an actor," as opposed to "I want to be a famous person." I think when you really are whole-hearted about what you do in life, and as a musician, I'm very whole-hearted about it, and I've always strived to be the best I can be, and that's the attitude you should have.

TeenHollywood: Why do you think your music really resonates with today's younger generation?

Joe: I think, for us, we write about things that are real to us and the things we go through every day. And we're also the same age as a lot of the people that listen to our music, and they're going through the same things. We get a lot of feedback from fans saying just thank you either for encouragement, or they understand what we're going through so -- they're going through the same kind of things.

TeenHollywood: You guys work live a lot; now with the inauguration and Grammys coming up what is that like being on live TV? More chances to goof up?

Kevin: It's great. We love it. It's high pressure, a lot of people running around backstage, a lot of amazing award shows we've been able to go to. We were just at the Golden Globes, and it was incredible.

Nick: I think definitely going back to our earlier days. Joe and I were on Broadway before we ever started being in a band. I can remember is being in "Annie Get Your Gun." I almost forgot my cue to go onstage. And the thing I remember that Reba McEntire said to me was "That's why they call it live." So I think we always remember those moments. We've had a couple embarrassing moments on stage here and there that you just learn to take it in stride, and you just learn to love it.

TeenHollywood: A lot of teens are bugged by younger sisters and brothers even though they love them. Your little bro Frankie is on the new "Jonas" series with you. Any comments on that?

Kevin: Oh, he's quite the star.

Nick: He's the little star of the show.

Joe: He's eight now. He just had a birthday. And you know, it's cool for him because, we didn't know how he would do, and he surprises us every day how well he does when he comes in every day. And he's in and out, and he finishes so quickly. And it's a lot of fun.

TeenHollywood: How is the acting going for you in general? It's new for you.

Joe: We're so used to doing music that this gives us a great opportunity to have acting and music involved. And it's an easy transition for us because we're natural musicians, but acting is something that's totally different for us. And going into it, we were pretty nervous. We weren't sure how we would do. We did "Camp Rock," but doing a television series, we didn't know exactly how it would roll out. It's been a lot of fun. And it's just a great opportunity so far.

TeenHollywood: You are writing songs for the new show. How has that been?

Nick: Writing songs for the show has been a really cool experience because they'll give us kind of like an outline of what they need for the episode and we've been making the joke constantly, it's like, "Now we don't have to get our hearts broken to write a song about heartbreak." It's a lot easier way to do it.

Joe: It's really cool because when we co-wrote with Demi Lovato on her record, it was a different kind of feel because we had to think from a girl's perspective, and that was the first time we ever had to do that. And this is great because they give us the opportunity, "Okay, we need you to write a song about you like this person, but you kind of feel sick about the situation." So they'll give us an opportunity to really think about it and come up with a song. And it's been a lot of fun. It's great to keep us involved in that aspect.

TeenHollywood: What has been your favorite or most challenging scene to shoot so far?

Nick: Good question. There's an episode called "The Wrong Song," which is about a girl who is also an artist, and I kind of have this romance going on. And I don't know that she has a show coming up where she thinks that the song that I wrote because of her, is not actually for her to sing at her show. And there was a couple fun and challenging scenes in that one. I really, really like that episode a lot.

Kevin: I think with our cast, with Chelsea and Nicole, they add so much to what we're doing. And it's really so much fun when we're in scenes together. Each day we walk in with a whole new excited, atmosphere on set because everyone knows that the scripts are going to be amazing and fun. We're in the midst of one right now that I don't think I've laughed that hard ever at a table read in my entire life. We we're just really blessed to do this because we know we are living so many people's dreams. But then to be able to work with such amazing people is awesome as well.

Nick: The fact that the three of us are still very new actors so (it's great) just to be given the opportunity to act, because it is something that we'd love to get into. And I know we're musicians and stuff, but it's an amazing opportunity. We're just thankful to be able to be on a single-camera show where we can try again when we --

Joe: When we mess up.

TeenHollywood: Of the three of you, which has found it the hardest to act and who is the hardest on his own performance?

Nick: I think I'll take both of those (laughs). I'm kind of a perfectionist in a way. I'm very hard on myself when it comes to acting, and that kind of goes hand-in-hand with your first question which is who found it the hardest to act; just finding kind of, as funny as it sounds, my personality in all this and kind of the humor that I can find in it. Trying to capture my own personal sense of humor. In real life, it's very dry humor. But sometimes I can't quite master that on camera. I'm still learning, and I'm just enjoying every minute of it.

TeenHollywood: You guys were in Miley's 3-D film. What's it like being in your own?

Nick: We were honored to be a part of Mylie's movie. It was a great success. And then to be asked by Disney to do our own was so exciting. I think we had some real ideas, while we were creating our tour, of what we wanted to see. We were able to see the first one in 3-D and saw what certain things looked like, and we're just saw our movie and it really looks amazing. We're excited for people to go see it. The cool part about it is it's better than front-row seats because you feel like you're on the stage, and you feel like you're behind the scenes with us. It gets some really personal things in there too. There's this one scene in particular where it captures all the things that we went through in Times Square in New York City on our album release night, which was one of the craziest scenes.

Joe: In our lives!

Nick: And I think it's the only footage in the world of it, so it's kind of something that means a lot to us and I hope it will mean a lot to other people as well.

Joe: The favorite part about it is, for me especially, like, is not the stuff that's on stage, it's all the stuff behind the scenes. If it's us traveling with our family or if it's us having fun backstage with our band, it's just really a lot of funny things, and we're really excited for people to see it. Really proud of it.

TeenHollywood: How do you handle all the rumors about you that are out there constantly?

Kevin: Rumors are always something with us. There's always something new, like, you know, I just joined a wrestling club.....in Asia! That's a new one.

Joe: You're kidding. That's just awesome.

Kevin: You just roll with it. You kind of laugh about it. I guess it's an honor that they're talking about you. Sometimes it's not about the greatest things, but they're talking.

Joe: Sometimes comedians will make jokes about you at an award show and you kind of have to laugh it off because that's their job. It's kind of flattering. It's like, wow, they used me as their prop. It's pretty cool.

TeenHollywood: What can fans expect from your upcoming new tour?

Joe: Obviously music and a lot of fun. We've been planning out the tour right now, and we're going to do the same kind of major cities that we hit on our last summer tour. We're going to try and do a world tour. We're going to try to go to a lot of places that we've never been, and we're writing a lot of new songs for our new record that we're going to release on Hollywood Records, and we're really excited about it.

TeenHollywood: Do you consider yourselves role models for your fans or is that too much pressure?

Nick: I think we consider ourselves normal guys who are doing our best every day to make our mom proud and that's what we've been saying from the beginning. Live like you're at the bottom even if you're at the top. For us that just means stay humble and do your best every day. We're not saying we're perfect. Nobody's perfect, but we're doing our best.

TeenHollywood: On stage, you are used to immediate response to what you do. In this new show, it's not filmed with an audience so you are alone. How weird is that for you?

Joe: It's real different. Even when you're on stage and you're making a joke, the audience laughs. So when you're just there (shooting the show) you're kind of like, 'I hope that was funny'. I'll find out in six months!

Kevin: We get to do crazier things sometimes than you could do with a live audience because we have time to set things up and, I was going to say blow things up, but we haven't got that high budget yet. Maybe next season. Just kidding.

TeenHollywood: Did you guys watch any of the old TV shows that are kind of similar to "Jonas" like "The Monkees" or "The Partridge Family".

Kevin: Absolutely. We were actually on vacation one year, and were out by a beach when a storm came in, so it was just raining for three days. So the only thing on the TV was reruns of "The Monkees"?

Joe: We watched every episode. It was awesome

Kevin: For literally three days straight. And we've definitely watched those and "The Partridge Family." Definitely of course we've seen the Beatles' movies, a huge inspiration. I think we're really excited to incorporate our music as well into this process, and that adds a whole other element for us because that's where our original passion is. To combine those two things is really, really exciting.
