Entertainment Notes: Lohan's Dad Offers Advice to Starlet

Lindsay Lohan's estranged father says the troubled starlet needs to lose her self-seeking friends, find God -- and reunite with him.

The 20-year-old actress remained out of sight after a Freaky Friday night that ended with her crashing her Mercedes and getting busted for DUI early Saturday by Beverly Hills cops. Cops said they found a small amount of a substance believed to be cocaine in her car.

Michael Lohan, who has had his own brushes with the law and recently spent a stint in jail for driving under the influence, said his daughter's run-in with the law may turn out to be a welcome wake- up call.

"This could be a blessing. This could be the sign that gets her the help she needs," he said.

The "Mean Girls" star voluntarily entered rehab this year. Lohan, who recently topped Maxim magazine's "Hot 100" list of sexiest women, came under fire last summer for showing up late -- or not showing up at all -- on the set of her latest movie, "Georgia Rule," in which she plays an out-of-control teen.

Her weekend crash on Sunset Boulevard, which capped an all-night partying spree, was Lohan's third in two years. She was not held at fault for the two earlier incidents.

The accident comes as another famous party girl, Lohan's sometime pal Paris Hilton, prepares to spend time behind bars for violating her probation on a drunken-driving conviction.

Michael Lohan said it's time his famous daughter to quit being with people "who only care about what they can get from her" and start spending more time with those who have her best interests at heart -- including him.

"I believe the people my daughter is hanging around with are the wrong people," said Michael Lohan, 47, who lives in Copiague, N.Y., and has been working as a counselor for Teen Challenge, a program for youths with substance-abuse problems.

"Lindsay has to find hope in God and put her family first, not listen to what other people say, and listen to her heart," he said.

But Michael Lohan has not seen Lindsay or his three other children in the 2-1/2 years since his divorce from their mother, Dina Sullivan Lohan, who also manages the star's multimillion- dollar career.

"I want her to know that her daddy is here for her."

Attempts Monday to reach Lindsay Lohan, Dina Lohan and their publicists were unsuccessful.

Streisand cancels Rome concert after ticket protest

Barbra Streisand canceled her concert in Rome next month -- a move that followed protests by consumer groups angered by what they said were excessively high ticket prices.

Concert organizers indicated the decision was not connected to the outcry, saying that production delays had forced them to scrap the June 15 concert in the capital's Stadio Flaminio, what would have been the singer's first concert in Italy and the start of her European tour.

"We met with unexpected production delays," said a statement by tour promoter Michael Cohl on the Web site of Milano Concerti, the Italian organizer of the event.

The statement said ticket holders would be refunded and given the opportunity to book a spot for one of Streisand's other European concerts.

Last week, consumer groups Codacons and Adusbef protested as "absurd and shameful" ticket prices ranging from just under $200 to more than $1,200, calling on authorities to deny Streisand use of the 24,000-seat stadium.

The stadium "is public property and cannot be used for immoral deals that are shameful to a civilized country," the groups said in a statement.

Streisand's Web site listed a June 18 concert in Zurich, Switzerland, as the kickoff for the star's tour.
