50 Cent: 'Release Date Is For Equality Among Fans'

50 Cent insists the decision to stall the release of his new album Curtis is not due to the poor reception afforded to his two latest singles - but is instead for 'equality' among fans.

The album was due to go on sale on June 26th, but has been postponed until the beginning of September; something the star - real name Curtis Jackson - admits will allow his fans across the globe to enjoy the disc simultaneously.

But he denies the late release date was due to singles Amusement Park and Straight To The Bank appearing at numbers 53 and 49 respectively on the U.S. Billboard charts.

In a statement, Jackson says, "I'm an international artist. My fans worldwide deserve to receive my album at the same time as my fans here in the U.S."

"Taking that into consideration moving the album to September was a necessary course of action."
