Maguire Makes Spider-Man 3 A Family Affair

Tobey Maguire turned last night's Spider-Man 3 world premiere in Japan into a family affair - because he couldn't bear to be apart from baby Ruby Sweetheart for more than a day.

The movie star has spent every day with his first child since she was born in November (2006), and he wasn't about to let film business keep him from his daughter.

He says, "I love being a dad. I didn't want to be away from them and I didn't want (fiancee) Jen (Meyer) to miss this.

"It's a pretty eventful moment and I wanted to be with them. I haven't been away for a night yet."

But baby Ruby didn't check out the film. Maguire stated, "She's only five months old, she isn't watching movies yet."

Co-star Kirsten Dunst joined Maguire on the red carpet in a rain-soaked Tokyo.

The film opens in Japan on May 1 (2007); it debuts around the world three days later.
