Madonna To Headline UK Live Earth Gig
Pop superstar Madonna will headline the UK leg of former US Vice President AL Gore's upcoming Live Earth concert when it is staged in London later this year.
The Music star will be joined by reformed rock group Genesis, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and James Blunt at the London leg of the concert, which will take place at Wembley Stadium this July. Other acts already confirmed include rockers the Foo Fighters, Razorlight and Snow Patrol, as well as rap group The Black Eyed Peas, and soul star John Legend.
Live Earth concerts will also be held in New Jersey, Johannesburg, Rio de Janeiro, Shanghai, Sydney and Tokyo on July 7 (2007), in a bid to highlight the issue of climate change.
The US concert was previously due to be staged at the National Mall in Washington D.C., but the concert was switched to New Jersey after it emerged the venue was already fully booked.
