Hilary Duff takes a month off

Teen icon Hilary Duff is giving herself a belated 18th birthday present -- a month off.

She's shot three movies, released a best-of album with three new tracks and performed a sold-out concert tour -- all in the span of a year, MTV.com noted Thursday.

She was honored with a Born to Lead Award by CosmoGirl! magazine in New York Tuesday and confessed backstage that she was more than just a little tired.

"I think it's the type of exhaustion that, like, one night of sleep doesn't fix, you know?" she said. "I was supposed to take September off for my birthday, but it didn't happen."

The admitted workaholic said she's putting her next film, "Outward Blonde," on hold "for a little while" and looking forward to her month of rest.
