Principal Photography Has Begun On Superman Returns

Principal photography is underway in Sydney, Australia on Warner Bros. Pictures' highly anticipated action adventure Superman Returns. The film stars newcomer Brandon Routh, Kate Bosworth, Kevin Spacey, James Marsden, Eva Marie Saint, Parker Posey, Kal Penn and Sam Huntington. Brandon Routh, who has previously made notable guest appearances on such television series as Cold Case and Gilmore Girls, will play the dual roles of Clark Kent and the Man of Steel. Joining Routh are Kate Bosworth as Lois Lane; Kevin Spacey as Superman's archenemy, Lex Luthor; James Marsden as Richard White; Eva Marie Saint as Martha Kent; Parker Posey as Kitty Kowalski; Kal Penn as Stanford; and Sam Huntington as Jimmy Olsen.

"We are thrilled to have such a stellar cast starring in this exciting and innovative new chapter in the Superman legend," Robinov said. "With Bryan Singer at the helm, we look forward to creating a film that electrifies audiences and deepens the rich mythology that continues to make Superman one of the most popular and intriguing superheroes of all time."

Superman Returns is scheduled to shoot in and around Sydney, Australia through mid-August 2005 and will be released by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company, on June 30, 2006.
