Teen actress Mary-Kate Olsen has been declared a fashion icon by the New York Times for the look she's adopted since becoming a university student.
The 18-year-old entrepreneur, twin sister of Ashley Olsen, has attracted much attention for her less than clean-cut wardrobe since moving from Los Angeles to attend New York University last year.
And her image makeover, attacked by a number of fashion critics, has earned her a special nod.
Stylist Karen Berenson says, "The Olsens are the real thing. (Mary-Kate) makes skinny girls in baggy clothes look cool."
