47th Annual Grammy Award Winners

Ray Charles dominated the Grammy awards last night, scooping the largest haul of prizes at the star-studded event.

The music legend, who died last year aged 73, chalked up the most accolades, including Album of the Year for 'Genius Loves Company' and Record of the Year for his duet with Norah Jones, 'Here We Go Again'.

'Genius Loves Company', his posthumously released album of duets, also won three more awards taking his tally to eight.

R'n'B babe Alicia Keys and Jamie Foxx, who played Charles in the biopic of his life, paid tribute to the star by performing one of his most famous songs, 'Georgia on My Mind'.

Other winners at the prestigious 47th annual ceremony included rap star Kanye West, who walked off with the Best Rap Album award after an emotional performance of 'Jesus Walks', which won Best Rap Song.

The star accepted his award from Hollywood star Kevin Bacon, with a moving acceptance speech thanking his family and God for their support.

American rock group Green Day beat off competition from British four-piece The Killers and new group Velvet Revolver to steal the Best Rock Album award for controversial album, 'American Idiot' while Irish group U2 won best Rock performance for single 'Vertigo'.
