The 77th Annual Academy Awards Nominees
The Aviator will lead the way at The 77th Annual Academy Awards with 11 nominations including Best Picture, Best Director for Martin Scorsese and Best Actor for Leonardo Dicaprio.
The Howard Hughes biopic is also up for Oscars in the Best Supporting Actor (Alan Alda) and Best Supporting Actress (Cate Blanchett) categories at the February 27th ceremony at Hollywood's Kodak Theater.
Other films with multiple nominations include Finding Neverland, which has nine, while Clint Eastwood movie Million Dollar Baby has received seven nods, including two for Eastwood in both the directing and acting categories.
The nominations, which were announced in Hollywood this morning, saw former stand-up comedian Jamie Foxx mentioned twice, as Best Actor for his performance as blind musician Ray Charles in Ray and as Best Supporting Actor in Collateral.
The Best Director category is a stand-off between hot favourite Scorsese for The Aviator, Eastwood for Million Dollar Baby, Mike Leigh for Vera Drake, Alexander Payne for Sideways and Taylor Hackford for Ray.
Eastwood, Foxx, Don Cheadle, Johnny Depp and Leonardo Dicaprio are the five actors battling it out for Best Actor.
The Best Actress award will be picked up either Annette Bening, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Imelda Staunton, Hilary Swank or Kate Winslet.
