Leonardo Flies High at Golden Globes
Leonardo DiCaprio scooped Best Actor at last night's (16.01.05) Golden Globe Awards for his starring role in 'The Aviator'.
The actor, who plays eccentric billionaire Howard Hughes, thanked legendary director Martin Scorcese for his win, describing him as "one of the greatest contributors to cinema".
The blockbuster was nominated for six awards, which are seen as a prediction of next month's Oscars.
Hilary Swank, who snatched best actress for her role as a female boxer in Clint Eastwood's 'Million Dollar Baby', said of the actor - who later in the evening won best director for the movie: "I don't want to ruin your 'go ahead, make my day image', but you have such a huge heart and you envelop all the people around you. You guided us so brilliantly."
'The Life and Death of Peter Sellers' took the Globe for best TV movie while Mick Jagger and former Eurythmics star Dave Stewart collected the song award for their title track on 'Alfie'.
Robin Williams, a five-time Globe winner, dedicated his Cecil B DeMille award for career achievement to late 'Superman' star Christopher Reeve, who died last year.
Jamie Foxx, star of the Ray Charles film biography Ray, picked up the best actor award in the comedy or musical category.
