Johnny Depp was the shock winner of the Best Male Film Actor category at last night's Screen Actors Guild Awards.
The American actor won for his performance as pirate Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl at the ceremony in Los Angeles' Shrine Exposition Center but was unable to attend as he is filming The Libertine in London.
South African beauty Charlize Theron picked up her tenth award after receiving the Best Lead Female Actress for her harrowing performance as serial killer Aileen Wuornos in Monster.
Renee Zellweger and Tim Robbins were awarded the Best Supporting Actor awards for Cold Mountain and Mystic River respectively.
Meryl Streep and Al Pacino both garnered wins for HBO drama Angels in America, while the cast Sex and the City and Six Feet Under were both honored with the Best Ensemble title in the comedy and drama categories.
