Mandy Moore's Haircut Battle

Pop beauty Mandy Moore's newly trimmed hairstyle has upset bosses on her new movie.

The 18-year-old singer chopped her locks specifically for her role in How To Deal, which is set to hit screens this summer, but her new look failed to impress producers.

She says, "I cut my hair because my character is definitely rebellious and I thought she should have short hair. But when I got on-set, some people were saying I looked like a tomboy, so they put extensions in may hair.

"The big decision makers liked my hair that way, but I fought. I know it's really stupid - I'm talking about a haircut - but I felt really passionate about it and nobody wanted to listen to me."

Finally, Mandy and the studio compromised by making her character have long hair at the beginning of the movie, then having it cut later on.

She adds, "I hate sending out a message that the ideal sense of beauty is long, flowing hair. This girl is cooler than that and she's funky. You have to stand up and say, 'Hey, this is what I want to do.'"
