Hot star Halle Berry is set to take on the role of Catwoman in the much-anticipated project.

Berry, who won an Oscar for her performance in Monster's Ball, has been approached by Warner Brothers and negotiations are reportedly in their final stages.

The part of Catwoman had belonged to Ashley Judd who gave it up to do Cat on a Hot Tin Roof on stage.

Oscar nominee Nicole Kidman was also attached to the project at one time.

The film, which will be directed by French filmmaker Pitof, will follow the further adventures of the character first played by Michelle Pfeiffer in Batman Returns.
