Brad Pitt's Movie Moves to Mexico
Impending war in Iraq has forced heartthrob Brad Pitt to change locations for the film "Troy" from northern Africa to the Mexican peninsula of Baja California, media reports said Friday.
At the hands of German director Wolfgang Petersen, whose previous work includes "The Never-Ending Story", parts of "Troy" were shot in Malta and were set to continue in Morocco and elsewhere in Africa.
But growing unease due to the threat of war on Iraq, made Warner Brothers studio decide to change locations, the reports said.
The tourism secretary of the Los Cabos resort was pleased by the news. Jesus Corral told the official Notimex news agency that shooting will last six months and actors and crew were expected to arrive within the next few weeks.
El Universal daily said "Troy", is budgeted at over 125 million dollars. Pitt will play Achilles in the epoch film about the Greek legend referring to the Trojan wars, sparked by the abduction of Helen of Troy.
Pitt has already worked in Mexico in 2000 in "The Mexican" with Julia Roberts in the small mining town of Real de Catorce.
