Nicole Favorite For Golden Globes
She has that golden glow, and if the betting odds continue in her favor, Nicole Kidman just might add another prestigious award to her trophy cabinet tomorrow.
Kidman is among top contenders to win a Golden Globe award for her portrayal of Virginia Woolf in The Hours. Kidman's performance is being talked about as one of the best of her career.
Kidman is in a strong position to win the award for Best Actress in a Leading Role Drama, but the current favorite is her co-star from The Hours Julianne Moore. Moore is nominated for her role in a different film, Far From Heaven.
``Nicole's looking solid, she's got a very good chance,'' Ian Loughlin from Centrebet betting service said.
``The only thing affecting her position is the fact that she won last year, because stars don't often get back-to-back awards.''
But although Kidman won a Golden Globe award last year for her role in Moulin Rouge, as Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy, this year she is in a different category.
Her nomination centers on the prestigious Drama category and is one of the best indicators of whether she will go on to win an Academy Award.
Kidman has already been hailed by Hollywood heavyweights for her willingness to transform herself into Woolf for the role in The Hours.
She wore a prosthetic nose and dowdy wig to portray Woolf, and deliberately downplayed her natural looks a rare thing among Hollywood's leading women.
``She has thrown herself into the most daring kind of work, and as a result we're now seeing the celebration of one of the world's greatest actresses,'' Miramax Films boss Harvey Weinstein said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly in the US.
The 60th Annual Golden Globes will be held in Los Angeles tonight and screened to millions of people worldwide.
