Winona Ryder's Fear Of Water

Hollywood actress Winona Ryder is one of the few millionaire movie stars without a pool in her home - because she's scared of water.

The troubled actress, who's set to stand trial after she was arrested on charges of shoplifting $6,000 worth of goods from Saks Fifth Avenue department store in Beverly Hills last December, hasn't been able to enjoy swimming since her early teens because of a traumatic experience.

She explains, "I've had a fear of water ever since I almost drowned in a friend's pool when I was 12."

"When they pulled me out of the pool, I didn't have a pulse, but I coughed up water and came back to life."

"So I've avoided pools and open water."
