Jennifer Lopez to Be Latest 'Carmen'
Comments
Last year, Beyonce Knowles of Destiny's Child took a crack at "Carmen." Now, it's Jennifer Lopez's turn.
The singer-actress will star in and produce an updated version of the classic opera, according to Monday's Variety. It's sure to be an unorthodox telling; the script comes from Craig Pearce, who co-wrote the screenplays for director Baz Luhrmann's "Moulin Rouge," "William Shakespeare's Romeo + Juliet" and "Strictly Ballroom."
In 2001, Knowles starred in MTV's hip-hop version of "Carmen," set in modern-day Philadelphia instead of 19th century Spain.
