MTV Announces Its Movie Nods


Hobbits and elves rule this year's MTV Movie Awards, with "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring" receiving a leading six nominations.

Elijah Wood was nominated for best male performance for his portrayal of the hobbit Frodo Baggins. Orlando Bloom, who played the archer elf Legolas, was nominated for male breakthrough performance. "The Fellowship of the Ring" is up for best movie, as well as best villain (Christopher Lee), best action sequence and best fight.

Other best movie nominees announced Tuesday are "Black Hawk Down," "The Fast and the Furious," "Legally Blonde" and "Shrek." The irreverent awards show will be taped on June 1 in Los Angeles and will air on MTV at 9 p.m. on June 6.
