Hollywood Sequels For 2002
If lightning struck once, the thinking in Hollywood goes, maybe it'll strike again. And again. And again. That's right, 2002 is definitely the year of the sequel. New installments are already in the works for "Men in Black II," "Ocean's Eleven," "Indiana Jones," "American Pie," "The Thomas Crown Affair" and "Seven."
The creative team behind the upcoming Hugh Grant movie "About a Boy," is rewriting the script for the sequel of "Meet the Parents" called "Meet the Fockers."
Warner Bros. is already working on sequels to "The Matrix," "Analyze This," "Cats and Dogs" and "Miss Congeniality."
Rumors are already rife that Vin Diesel will seek near $20 million to reprise his role as hunky street racer Dominic Toretto in a sequel to "The Fast and the Furious."
But sequels have long odds, given the availability of actors who were made stars by the original and the difficulty in paying their exponentially increased asking prices - before audiences stop caring altogether.
