Britney Spears Comments on Relationship
Britney Spears gave a strong hint on Monday that she has split from former boyfriend Justin Timberlake, telling British journalists she was not in an "intense relationship." Pressed on the issue at a London press conference about her new film "Crossroads", which premieres in the British capital on Monday, Spears said: "No, I would not say I was in an intense relationship with anyone at the moment." She refused to further comment on her relationship with the N'Sync singer.
Britain's intrusive reporters were told they could not quiz the 20-year-old star on other intimate issues - her virginity and the effects of the September 11 attacks on her native country.
Spears chatted happily for 30 minutes on the film, which opens across Britain this week, as well as her singing, the fame and her heroes.
She said she wanted to clear time in her busy schedule to visit her British cousin, go to restaurants and to the theatre.
"Music is my heart and soul and that's what I was born to do. Acting is so much fun. It is a different ball game and I want to concentrate on that at the moment. I'm really passionate about what I do. I love entertainment and telling stories to people and I am very lucky that I am doing what I want to do," she said.
Speaking later on television, Spears said she was interested to hear that fans were putting money on her dating Prince William, who is reputed to be a fan.
Looking surprised, she said: "That's nice. To be associated with him is very cool. Who wouldn't want to be a princess?"
