Gwyneth Paltrow an 'In Style' Columnist?

Versace, Gaultier, Givenchy, Valentino, Dior: Wondering why Gwyneth Paltrow was such a fixture at the Paris couture shows? Sure, there's the whole Gwenny-Stelly-Melly girls' weekend in the City of Light angle. But Miss Paltrow has told some reporters that she's in Paris on business, not pleasure.

And no, that business is not blowing air kisses, imbibing bubbly and giggling with her gal pals. It's covering couture for In Style magazine. The reports may be a surprise to some, who might expect the seasoned star to team up with a more aristocratic magazine like Harper's Bazaar. Especially since she already has Glenda Bailey connections: She guest-edited Marie Claire when Bailey was editor-in-chief, and was then Bazaar's cover girl for the first issue with her name on the masthead.

Even though the often phone-book-sized In Style isn't known for its in-depth haute couture coverage, an alliance with Gwyneth could potentially change that. The A-list actress could easily attract its celeb-hungry audience to inaccessible couture fashions.

For the most part, Paltrow would be a good deal for the magazine. The New York socialite turned Hollywood princess certainly has access, and she's no stranger to upscale fashion. The big remaining question mark though: Can she write?

InStyle won't confirm that they've enlisted the actress to cover the couture shows for them. "There's no story there," they tell us. Maybe they're waiting to see how the star's copy reads before they make any commitments?
