Acting Future For Lance Bass
There's little doubt that *N Sync heartthrob Lance Bass was hoping for more success with "On the Line," his big-screen debut. That romantic comedy was barely a blip on the box-office charts in its first week of release, but that's not stopping Bass's determination to expand his career beyond being one-fifth of a boy band.
"I just want to take this opportunity to do everything I wanted to do in life," Bass says earnestly. "Anything that I've dreamed of, I have the opportunity to do right now, and I don't know if I can do that ten years from now."
Some of the movie ideas he's throwing around are pretty comical, especially the one he himself calls the worst concept ever. "We were *N Sync - and we don't want to play *N Sync at all - but we were *N Sync and we were hired by the government to be spies to go in and steal something from some bad guys. So bad!"
Then there was the "Grease 3" scheme ("We were writing that screenplay."), an idea that involved the band's gal pal Britney Spears. "We were going to play the T-Birds," Bass reveals, "Britney was attached to do the female lead, and it was J.C. [Chasez] as the male lead, not Justin [Timberlake, Britney's boyfriend] the way we wrote it." But that project is on hold at the moment: "It was just so much legality that it was just crazy - too many people own too many parts of 'Grease,'" he explains.
And even though the band is planning a tour for next spring, Bass is still going to try again to make his acting career take off. "I think they're doing 'The Cat in the Hat,' and I really want to be in that," he says confidently. "I definitely would love to do a Dr. Seuss movie."
