Mariah Carey Postpones ABC Interview

Mariah Carey, still recovering from her emotional breakdown, has postponed a Sept. 12 interview with ABC News' Barbara Walters, the television show "Entertainment Tonight" reported.

The singer postponed the interview because she "needs more time to rest," Carey spokeswoman Cindi Berger said in a statement cited Tuesday by the show.

Walters said in a statement that she was "concerned to hear that Ms. Carey would be unable to do the interview at this time."

No new date for the interview was given. Calls seeking comment from Berger and Walters after work hours were not returned Tuesday.

The 31-year-old pop singer was treated at a Connecticut clinic last month and has been with her mother, under a doctor's care, since her release.

Carey said she was exhausted after working on two movies - "Glitter," opening Sept. 21, and "Wise Girls," due out next year - as well as the soundtrack for "Glitter," which hits U.S. stores Sept. 11.

Carey last sat down with Walters after divorcing Sony Music chief Tommy Mottola in November 1998.
