Billboard Tribute To Aaliyah

A huge billboard on Los Angeles's Sunset Boulevard has become an unofficial shrine for fans mourning singer Aaliyah's tragic death.

Hundreds of well-wishers have written poems and notes of sympathy across the enormous poster, advertising the "Try Again" singer's latest self-titled album "Aaliyah."

As well as written messages, some fans have pierced the poster and stuck real flowers through the board.

The R&B singer was killed along with seven other people in a plane crash in the Bahamas on Saturday.

Aaliyah's sudden death shocked and saddened her fans so much they spent Sunday decorating the shrine with expressions of their emotions. One fan wrote: "You blessed us with your spirit. May the Gods rejoice for your return to eternal life."
