Mariah Carey Will Talk to Barbara Walters

ABC News announced Wednesday that Barbara Walters has landed the first interview with Mariah Carey since the pop star was hospitalized for treatment of a physical and emotional breakdown.

The interview is scheduled to air on "20/20" on Sept. 12. No other details have been announced, including such matters as when or where the interview will be conducted.

Carey made headlines last month when she canceled all public appearances and checked into a hospital in Connecticut for treatment of her breakdown -- even as she prepared to promote the release of "Glitter," in which she took her first starring role. The movie's release date was shifted from Aug. 31 to Sept. 21.

Carey also had to cancel plans to promote the soundtrack from the movie, her first CD under a lucrative new contract with Virgin Records.
